VIGILANCIA Y DEFENSA LITORAL
Littoral surveillance & beach defense
Persistent surveillance and defense of coastline, beaches, ports and maritime access points through fixed, mobile and unmanned sensors, integrating surface, low-altitude and land-perimeter pictures into a single tactical picture with response capability.
01.Operational problem
The coastline, beaches, ports and maritime access points form a contested access space, and watching them permanently ties down a large number of personnel. Solved with sensors alone, the problem resembles civil security; the military question is to detect and, further, to be able to deny, fix or engage a threat trying to enter through a beach, port or landing zone, integrating the surface, low-altitude and land-perimeter pictures into a single, response-capable picture.
Miriad combines persistent sensing — MFI VIPER, a fixed EW and perimeter-protection tower, and mobile TRITON RECON over the coast and nearby waters — with a mobile beach-defense node: TAURUS RECON as an advanced sensor, C2, C-UAS, relay and fire support from prepared positions, and ARIES as the close anti-FPV/anti-UAS layer and node protection. That combination turns surveillance into beach defense and force protection — a littoral military mission, not civil security. Human command authorizes the response.
02.Systems, components, technology and intelligence involved:
-
Taurus Recon
Mobile beach defence node: forward sensor, C2, C-UAS, relay and fire support/cueing from prepared positions
-
MFI VIPER
Fixed, autonomous electronic warfare and perimeter protection tower: frequency scanning, C-UAS and multi-sensor fusion (radar, EO/IR and acoustics) with automated electronic response over coastline, ports, bases and perimeters
-
TRITON RECON
Navalised RECON architecture: mobile observation of the coast and nearby waters, designation and counter-drone defence from the maritime domain.
-
C2
It merges surface, low altitude and perimeter into a common tactical picture; command decides and authorises the response.
-
ARIES C-UAS
Close-in anti-FPV/anti-UAS layer and protection of the nodes.
03.Operational architecture
-
DETECT
Persistent littoral picture
MFI VIPER provides fixed perimeter surveillance with C-UAS and multi-sensor fusion, and TRITON RECON extends mobile observation over the coast and nearby waters: surface, low-altitude and land-perimeter fused into a single picture.
-
Decide
Deny, fix or engage
The common picture classifies the threat trying to enter through a beach, port or landing zone; command decides to deny access, fix it, or authorize the effect.
-
Act
Beach and approach defence
TAURUS RECON denies, fixes or provides cueing and fire support from prepared positions; ARIES protects the nodes and defeats the close-in FPV/UAS threat, under human authorisation.

Concept of employment in development
Littoral Surveillance and Defense combines fixed and naval sensors and family platforms into a coastal defense network; concept of employment in development, 2026.
This is the defensive counterpart of the littoral axis: it watches and defends coastline, beaches and access points, where Amphibious Assault projects force from ship to shore. It shares its sensor architecture with Air Surveillance and Area Security.
