Overview
HIPPOS is the combat variant of Miriad Land Systems' heavy 6×6 platform — purpose-built and unmanned from the ground up, not an adaptation of an existing 6×6 armored vehicle. It shares with TAURUS and RHINOS the control architecture, the 400 V high-voltage bus, the electrical interfaces and the integration philosophy, scaled up to the heavier weight class: traction through three independent e-axles — no in-wheel motors —, with a range-extender system sized specifically for its mass, performance and power demand, and a pure-electric mode for silent operation.
Its main variant, HIPPOS LEADER, acts as the combat and coordination node of the robotic grouping: it advances ahead of or alongside manned formations, fixes and suppresses threats, protects reconnaissance and logistics systems, and delivers direct fire from positions where putting a crew at risk is unacceptable. HIPPOS and ELEFAS share this same heavy platform; each uses a different superstructure suited to its mission — combat for HIPPOS, protected transport for ELEFAS.
