NEURON
Cognitive radiofrequency suite
The platform's electromagnetic nervous system: it senses the spectrum, interprets it with onboard AI, and turns it into links, protection and decisions.
Overview
NEURON is Miriad's cognitive radio-frequency suite for autonomous platforms, land vehicles, tactical nodes and critical facilities. It turns the RF domain into a mission cognitive layer: it integrates RF sensing, resilient communications, signals intelligence, electromagnetic protection and data fusion under a modular, embedded architecture.
Its purpose is to give each platform the ability to perceive the electromagnetic environment, understand emitter activity, adapt its links, detect jamming, prioritize tactical traffic, and maintain operational continuity in congested, degraded, spoofed or electronically contested scenarios.
Capabilities
- Passive RF sensing
- Resilient communications
- Signals intelligence
- Electromagnetic protection
- Jamming and spoofing detection
- Cognitive RF fusion
- Electromagnetic awareness
- Modular architecture
The name
NEURON stands for Networked Electronic & Unified Radiofrequency Operations Node , and echoes the Greek neûron — the nerve, the conducting fiber, signal transmission. The reference expresses its role within the platform: NEURON acts as the electromagnetic nervous system, picking up stimuli from the spectrum, interpreting them with onboard artificial intelligence, and turning them into communication, protection and decision-support actions.
Four radomes
-
Link
Intelligent communications
Resilience of tactical links: dynamic channel selection, parameter adaptation, signal quality analysis, traffic prioritisation, interference detection and alternative routes or modes. It turns the tactical radio into an adaptive asset.
-
Intelligence
SIGINT
It detects, captures, classifies and exploits relevant RF emissions: persistent emitters, changes in behaviour, anomalous signatures and threats. It turns scattered signals into tactical entities: presence, likely origin, recurrence, criticality and evolution.
-
Protection
IEW
Support to tactical electronic warfare and electromagnetic protection: it detects deliberate degradation, jamming, spoofing, saturation and hostile emissions, and proposes self-protection measures, link adjustments and changes to the electromagnetic profile.
-
Perception
ISENSE
Passive radio sensing: it analyses signals, disturbances, pattern variations, presence and movement. A low-signature RF perception layer that complements optics, acoustics and radar for perimeter and tactical surveillance.
A complete cognitive RF capability
- Smart communications keep the link alive; SIGINT understands the emissions; IEW protects against the electromagnetic threat; ISENSE turns the spectrum into environmental perception.
- The onboard AI layer fuses the four functions to build a local electromagnetic map, recognize anomalies and recommend actions.
- The resulting electromagnetic awareness feeds LYNKS with information useful to the mission.
Integration and modularity
NEURON is designed to integrate into Miriad's distributed architectures, autonomous vehicles, C2 nodes, counter-drone systems, land platforms and multi-domain applications. Its modularity allows the radome configuration to be adapted to each mission: resilient communications for unmanned vehicles, signals intelligence for advanced surveillance, electromagnetic protection for exposed platforms, or RF sensing for facility and perimeter defense.
