Miriad Global brings in Ferrimax as exclusive manufacturer of armoured hulls for its autonomous ground platforms
Ferrimax could accompany Miriad in its industrial plans in third countries and set up local production capacity when required
The agreement also covers engineering, prototyping and series production, and supports the expected growth of Miriad’s land programmes
Madrid, 11 December 2025. Miriad Global, a Spanish company specialising in autonomous systems and critical electronics for the defence sector, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ferrimax, a leading physical security and armour company. Under the agreement, Ferrimax will manufacture the armoured hulls for Miriad’s autonomous ground systems on an exclusive basis at its plant in Sant Fost de Campsentelles (Barcelona).
The partnership secures a domestic supply chain in Spain and reduces risks related to lead times and quality. It also allows the manufacture of these armoured hulls to be industrialised in Spain in line with NATO standards.
The alliance is part of Miriad Global’s dual model. On the one hand, this model relies on in-house production in Spain of critical subsystems (artificial intelligence, electronics, optronics and weapon stations). On the other, it relies on open-architecture co-production with European partners for large-scale programmes. This approach strengthens national capabilities while building industrial alliances consistent with the European environment.
The planned scope includes armour engineering, prototyping, welding and series production. It also covers ballistic protection and blast resistance testing, materials qualification and a batch and process traceability system.
This collaboration framework will give the programme a solid industrial base aligned with the technical requirements of this type of development. It is also designed to support the expected growth of Miriad’s land projects and to ensure production capacity that can scale with future needs.
The agreement also provides for Ferrimax to accompany Miriad in its industrial plans in third countries. Ferrimax could deploy local production capacity when required, while design authority always remains in Barcelona.
“In a sector as demanding as defence, progress requires building a shared industrial culture based on rigour, method and mutual trust. Ferrimax’s experience brings that spirit and allows us to raise the standards we apply to every project,” said Antonio Navarro, Executive Chairman of Miriad Global.
“For Ferrimax, this is an opportunity to apply our experience in emerging technology fields. We particularly value Miriad’s ability to integrate R&D and proprietary technology within a solid industrial model,” said Antonio de la Casa Uriarte, Managing Director of Ferrimax.
Ferrimax is a Spanish manufacturer of physical security and armour solutions with a dedicated business line for defence and critical infrastructure. It has industrial series production capacity, mechanical and electronic engineering departments and its own R&D. It also operates under NATO protection standards and has a presence in several European markets.
The agreement marks a significant step towards strengthening Spain’s industrial autonomy. It also helps consolidate a competitive and innovative production base aligned with the operational needs of the Armed Forces and Europe’s technological sovereignty goals.
